use the [[modules.mount]] feature under hugo just a note from emma/kyle hugo removed support for symlinks, the underlying Go filepath Walk/WalkDir do not follow symbolic links.
hugo on linux - for an existing project you need to redownload the theme because it is only included in the project as a module:
git submodule update --init --recursive
